Covered in Sin
Leviticus 13:13 The priest will look, and if the skin disease has covered his entire body, he is to pronounce the stricken person clean. Since he has turned totally white (with leprosy), he is clean.
Have you been on the carousel of sin or inexpediency? When we fancy that we have only one or two things wrong with us, and we beg God to fix them, we don’t change. We imagine that we’ve made some progress, but that there are still just one or two areas in our lives that need to be fixed and cleansed, only one or two things that we need to be delivered from.
But the Lord changes us when we realize that we are bad through and through. It isn’t that we have one or two areas that need to be fixed; rather, we are completely undone. The waters of our wrongdoings are over our heads, and we are sunk unless the Lord rescues us. Without His move, there is no hope, but if we let Him take the reins, He will amaze us with His goodness and faithfulness.
So let’s give up our endless resolutions to better ourselves, and just sink down into the helplessness that is our actual state. It is then that the Lord will rescue us. Without Him, we can do nothing. Nothing. so let us leave off this hybrid lordship between us and Him. Let us realize that we can in no way change ourselves. He alone is God, and so we let Him change us.
