I have wondered and worried about the Lord’s purposes for my life. I have wondered if I am inventing a calling in my own mind. Sometimes I believe it, but then I wonder whether it will ever come to pass.

We wonder what the Lord is assigning us to do, but it’s simple.

We think, “Lord, deal with me. Correct me. Fix me. I can’t do right.” We think we need to be disciplined by the Lord. We figure our chastisement is surely coming. But the Lord says that this won’t help. We would just continue to rebel. And why? It is not that we need a beating. It’s that we need a healing.

An ordinary man received healing. He didn’t have a VIP pass. All the more-importants got in before him. All the more-ables got in before him. But this was the one who received healing.
